An elderly woman is dead and three people, including two juveniles, were injured after a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and King Road in Roseville. Roseville police said the three injured victims were hospitalized, though the severity of their injuries was not immediately known, and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
According to CBS Sacramento, the Roseville Police Department reported the crash near a stretch of Douglas Boulevard located just a few blocks west of the Douglas Boulevard exit from Interstate 80. Police said they did not yet know whether DUI was a factor. Douglas Boulevard near King Road was expected to remain closed for an extended period, and officers urged drivers to avoid the area entirely while the investigation continued.
A Second Fatal Crash at the Same Corner in Two Years
Thursday's collision was not the first tragedy at this exact intersection. A fatal pedestrian crash occurred there on November 6, 2025, according to ABC10. In that earlier incident, officers responding around 6 a.m. found a vehicle had struck a pedestrian who later died from injuries, and DUI did not appear to be a factor at the time.
The extended closure following Thursday's crash came as police investigated the fatal collision. Traffic Community Service Officers assist MAIT as needed, according to the City of Roseville.
Douglas Boulevard's Long History as a Danger Zone
The corridor's troubled safety record extends well beyond this single intersection. California Highway Patrol SWITRS data compiled between 2014 and 2025 identified Douglas Boulevard as the single most crash-prone city street in Placer County, logging 623 reported collisions, per SafetyFirst. That same dataset recorded 278 collisions specifically at the Douglas Boulevard and I-80 freeway interchange alone.
The danger isn't confined to any single day. Just the day before Thursday's fatal crash, another vehicle collision caused injuries on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Douglas Boulevard exit, according to the Pacific Attorney Group.

Roseville sees roughly 1,880 total traffic collisions annually overall, with about 794 resulting in personal injuries and 14 in fatalities, according to J&Y Law.
Recent Infrastructure Upgrades Haven't Eliminated the Risk
Regional transportation officials have poured money into the corridor in recent years. In June 2025, Caltrans and the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency completed a $49.5 million project on Interstate 80 near Douglas Boulevard, according to Caltrans.
Major arterial intersections along Douglas Boulevard include Sunrise Boulevard and Eureka Road.
Roseville police have not released further details on the cause of Thursday's crash. Police urged drivers to avoid the closed area near Douglas Boulevard and King Road while the investigation continues.
