A new family-owned Mexican restaurant has fired up its grills in the northeast Columbus area near Gahanna and New Albany, bringing open-flame cooking and more than 50 menu items to a retail strip that's quickly becoming a dining destination. Braseros Bar & Grill began welcoming guests last week, according to its Facebook page, at 5924 Old Hamilton Road.
The independent restaurant touts recipes handed down through three generations, according to NBC4 WCMH-TV, alongside its commitment to fresh ingredients and open-flame preparation. The menu spans burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos and tamales, and the bar side pours cocktails, margaritas, wine and beer.
Braseros keeps generous hours for the neighborhood, staying open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to its website. The Commons at Hamilton Quarter, a retail center built in 2024, also houses Atlas Family Dentistry and Naf Naf Grill. All current and incoming tenants at the center are the first occupants of their respective storefronts, the station's report notes.
More Food Tenants On The Way
The Commons at Hamilton Quarter isn't done growing. Wild Eggs, a Louisville, Kentucky-based chain serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, plans to open its own storefront at the center on October 20, 2026.
The Milkshake Factory, a Pittsburgh-based chain known for shakes like chocolate dipped strawberry and bananas foster, is also slated to join the center, though no opening date has been announced for the northeast Columbus shop. The dessert chain launched in Pittsburgh in 2003 and currently operates 56 locations nationwide plus one Ohio store in Mason, the report states. Hoodline reported separately that the opening date and specific unit had not been announced, while listing the planned location at 775 N Hamilton Road. As Hoodline has previously reported, the chain builds its menu around housemade ice cream, hand-spun shakes and small-batch chocolates, including signature flavors like Cookies & Cream alongside rotating seasonal and non-dairy options.

The center will have a full menu of dining options, according to Columbus Business First. The center is designed to serve shoppers and nearby employees in the surrounding area, according to Hoodline's earlier coverage.
