Sailabration returns to Fells Point on Saturday, September 26, bringing tall ship tours, live music and hands-on maritime activities to the historic waterfront neighborhood.
The third annual festival celebrates Maryland’s maritime history and is designed for families, according to WBFF.
Visitors can tour the Pride of Baltimore II, Maryland’s official tall ship, as part of the day’s programming.
Activities Along the Waterfront
The festival’s programming includes living-history presentations, musical performances and hands-on activities for attendees of all ages, WBFF reports.
Local exhibitors will also give presentations throughout the day, combining educational programming with entertainment along Fells Point’s cobblestone streets and waterfront.
Rum Tastings and Tattoo Demonstrations
The lineup also includes rum tastings and tattoo demonstrations, offering activities beyond the family-focused programming.
Fells Point’s waterfront reflects Baltimore’s maritime identity and shipbuilding past. Sailabration takes place along the neighborhood’s historic waterfront.
The Port’s Role Today
The Port of Baltimore’s significance extends beyond its historic identity: according to the Maryland Port Administration, it generates about 20,300 direct jobs, with more than 273,000 jobs overall linked to port activities. The Maryland Port Commission’s FY 2023 annual report says the port handled a record $74.3 billion worth of foreign cargo in 2022.
