The DIY Street Fair will take place Sept. 25–27 in downtown Ferndale, on the east side of Woodward Avenue near Nine Mile Road. The free event is expected to draw more than 75,000 people, according to the Oakland County Times announcement.
When and where to go
DIY Street Fair hours are 6–11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Saturday and noon–9 p.m. Sunday. The event is open to all ages, and additional information is available at ferndalediy.com.
The Funky Ferndale Art Fair will be held across Woodward Avenue along West Nine Mile Road during the same three-day period. More than 140 artists are expected at that event, while the DIY marketplace will include more than 150 artists and crafters, according to Oakland County Times.
Music, art and food
DIY’s main stage will feature 20 bands. The listed headliners are Shannon Shaw of Shannon and the Clams, Illuminati Hotties and Ratboys; Oakland County Times identifies them as being based in Nashville, Los Angeles and Chicago, respectively.
The marketplace will offer handmade goods and other original work, alongside food vendors serving meals and treats connected with Ferndale’s restaurant scene. The Funky Ferndale Art Fair is also planning a puppet parade, with community participation in making the puppets, according to Oakland County Times.
