Five Guys is bringing burgers, fries and dirty martinis to a new two-floor Times Square location that will operate daily until 4 a.m. once it opens at 721 Seventh Avenue, near the corner of West 48th Street. The spot marks the fast-casual chain's second Times Square outpost, joining its existing restaurant on 42nd Street near the Port Authority, and is expected to open before Thanksgiving, according to the Five Guys team.
Franchise owner Patrice Leys told WhatNow the location sits across from the M&M store and near where the Times Square ball drops, putting it squarely in one of Midtown's busiest tourist corridors. The building itself has some history: property records reviewed by PropertyShark show the 47,125-square-foot commercial structure was originally built in 1920. Corporate filings cited by The National Herald show the franchisee entity, FGNY 721 Seventh Avenue LLC, was authorized to do business in New York State back in August 2023, suggesting years of planning went into securing the site.
A Loungy Second Floor With Table Service
The new restaurant will span two floors, with the ground level keeping Five Guys' familiar red-and-white ordering counter and aesthetic intact. Upstairs, the concept shifts: a full bar with seating and table service, done in a loungier style with its own color scheme apart from the brand's usual look, per Leys. The upper level will also feature a New York City mural depicting the Times Square setting and a retail corner selling exclusive merchandise, including hats, T-shirts and sweatshirts.
Leys said burgers, fries, espresso and dirty martinis will be on the menu at the location. He said serving a different part of the community is rewarding, noting that Times Square represents a different market with different foot traffic than Five Guys' typical locations. The chain already counts 13 other locations across Manhattan, and New York ranks third nationally among states for total Five Guys stores, trailing only California and Florida, per VinePair.
Part of a Broader Flagship Push
The bar-equipped concept echoes a flagship Five Guys debuted in January 2026 at the Grand Canal Shoppes in Las Vegas, where the chain's first U.S. flagship location added a full walk-up bar serving beer, wine, cocktails, boozy milkshakes and all-day breakfast across 10,000 square feet, according to PR Newswire. Five Guys, founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, by the Murrell family, has grown to more than 1,900 locations in over 25 countries by 2026, the company says on its own site.
The Times Square location fits into a broader industry pattern. Another planned burger business in the neighborhood, Burger X NYC, recently announced plans for a smash burger counter near Port Authority. It has been approved for a liquor license, plans beer service starting at 8 a.m. and expects to operate until 1 a.m. Under New York State Liquor Authority rules, licensed on-premises establishments in the city can serve alcohol until 4 a.m. Monday through Saturday, a statutory window that gives Five Guys' new bar area room to operate deep into the night.
Foot Traffic Fuels the Bet on Times Square
The site selection also lines up with foot-traffic numbers for the neighborhood. Average daily pedestrian traffic in Times Square hit 264,388 visitors in July 2026, a 13% jump over July 2025, while storefront business occupancy in the district reached 88%, according to the Times Square Alliance's economic indicator report. Those figures help explain why a high-volume, late-night flagship makes sense for the block near West 48th Street.
It isn't the first time an upper floor above a Manhattan Five Guys has hosted something beyond burgers. An upstairs speakeasy also operates above a Manhattan Five Guys, according to Tasting Table.
