Patchy fog should lift by about 9 a.m., but clouds will linger as temperatures rise toward the mid-80s. The National Weather Service in Raleigh puts the chance of rain at 60%, with showers and thunderstorms most likely between roughly 1 and 5 p.m.
Northeast winds should stay light at 3 to 8 mph, while temperatures could fall toward the upper 70s during the afternoon as rain moves through. The broader forecast discussion allows for an isolated strong to severe storm in the far western or southern Piedmont, though no watches or warnings are posted for the Raleigh area.
Labor Day Looks Much Calmer
A few showers or storms could linger into Sunday evening, with a 40% chance of precipitation before 8 p.m. Skies then remain mostly cloudy overnight, with a low near 65.
Monday’s Labor Day forecast is a much easier one for outdoor plans: mostly sunny, with a high near 84 and northeast winds of 6 to 10 mph. Tuesday should stay sunny near 85, with only a minimal chance of rain.
Heat Returns Midweek
Sunny weather continues Wednesday, when Raleigh could reach 88 degrees. The bigger jump arrives Thursday with a forecast high near 95, followed by a 30% chance of nighttime showers and thunderstorms.
Friday remains warm near 90 degrees, with another chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Saturday is expected to stay mostly sunny near 88, though a few showers or storms could pop up.
