The Winter Cathedral is coming back to Fort Worth Botanic Garden this Christmas season, an 18-foot-tall, 110-foot-long tunnel of light that guides visitors through tens of thousands of glowing LED globes. After sitting out the 2025 holiday display, the illuminated centerpiece returns as the anchor of the 2026 edition of Christmas in the Garden, running from November 20, 2026, through January 3, 2027.
The Winter Cathedral first appeared as part of the Lightscape presentation in 2022 and stuck around for the 2023 and 2024 seasons before disappearing from the 2025 lineup, according to CultureMap Fort Worth. Its return this year comes alongside a refreshed set of installations spread across the event's roughly one-mile trail, which Fever describes as a magical path illuminated by thousands of sparkling lights.
This year's trail will carry more than 1 million lights, according to Secret Dallas, with three installations making their garden debuts: Neon Gallopers, Nenufars and Snowflakes. Neon Gallopers is a herd of illuminated horses, Nenufars is a display of glowing Japanese flowers floating on water, and Snowflakes is a path lined with illuminated crystal-like forms, all making their debut at the garden.
A Trail Built Around Texas Themes
Beyond the new arrivals, the 2026 event folds in a large illuminated Texas flag and a field of lighted Texas bluebonnets, alongside cowboy nutcrackers and a display inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas. The overall presentation includes 22 illuminated installations along the route. A synchronized Sony soundtrack of Christmas classics will accompany the lights, the same source notes, adding a musical layer to the self-guided walk that Fort Worth Botanic Garden describes as a trail of light displays paired with holiday music.
Fort Worth Botanic Garden President and CEO Patrick Newman framed the season's meaning in a statement: “The greatest gifts aren't wrapped — they're felt, in the glow of the lights and the laughter of the ones you love. That's the kind of gift Christmas in the Garden hopes to give every family who walks through our gates this season.”
Food, Santa and Nightly Details
Westland Hospitality is serving as the culinary partner for the 2026 event, the same company behind the forthcoming Flora House Cafe at the botanic garden. Food offerings will include JD's Burgers, Magdalena's, Pulido's, Curly's Frozen Custard and Margie's Italian Gardens. Curly's is creating a Christmas Sugar Cookie Frozen Custard for the event, combining vanilla frozen custard with sugar cookie crumbles, vanilla frosting and sprinkles.
Santa will be stationed at Santa's Village each evening through Christmas Eve, per the garden's own event page. Entry times run every 15 minutes from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the event is located at 3220 Botanic Garden Boulevard.
Tickets, Parking and Presale
Tickets for Christmas in the Garden go on sale Wednesday, September 16, at 10 a.m., with members saving 25 percent on peak and standard tickets. General tickets go on sale September 16. Reported pricing varies by source: Secret Dallas states tickets start at $28, while CultureMap Fort Worth reports adult tickets ranging from $20 to $34 and children's tickets ranging from $13 to $22. A $5 surcharge applies to tickets purchased at the garden on the day of the event.
On-site parking costs $25 per car, and remote parking is available at Dickies on select nights. Comparable pricing from the prior season, per CultureMap Fort Worth, included adult tickets at $34 in advance and $39 on the day, while children's tickets were $22 in advance and $27 on the day during the 2025 run, which took place from November 21 through January 4 without the Winter Cathedral among its features.
