Two unidentified women displayed and fired a handgun in front of 2550 Briggs Avenue in Fordham Manor Sunday evening, acting alongside two other unidentified women who fled the scene together, according to the NYPD. All four women ran off on foot to parts unknown after the 7:15 p.m. incident, and police are now offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.

, describes the incident as reckless endangerment and asks anyone with information to come forward. The agency is offering up to $3,500 for a tip that leads to an arrest and indictment, a reward funded and administered through the

A Building With a Violent Past
The address where the gunfire erupted is no stranger to violence. In 2022, 2550 Briggs Avenue was the scene of a fatal stabbing that killed 19-year-old Mount Vernon resident Armani McDonald in front of the building, as reported by Norwood News. The building is a multi-family residential rental property within Bronx Community Board 7, according to the Displacement Alert Project.
Sunday's shooting also isn't the only violent incident to hit the Briggs Avenue corridor this year. On May 26, a 34-year-old man was slashed in the head during an early-morning robbery at Briggs Avenue and East Kingsbridge Road, the same outlet reported. The stretch of Fordham Manor falls under the jurisdiction of the NYPD's 52nd Precinct, headquartered at 3016 Webster Avenue, which covers Fordham Manor, Bedford Park, Norwood, Kingsbridge, and University Heights.
What the Charges Could Mean
Under New York Penal Law § 120.25, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree is a Class D felony, carrying a potential sentence of up to 2⅓ to 7 years in state prison for anyone who recklessly creates a grave risk of death under circumstances showing depraved indifference to human life, according to the New York State Senate. The shooting comes as the 52nd Precinct, now under the recently restructured Patrol Borough Bronx North command led by Deputy Inspector Asif Iqbal, has seen a rise in certain crime categories even as violent crime dropped citywide.
