Frederick Police are investigating a death on the first block of Franklin Street near the Frederick Fairgrounds. City officials say there is no threat to the public, and officers are expected to remain in the area while the investigation continues.
According to the Frederick News-Post, the investigation is centered on the unit block of Franklin Street, near East Patrick Street. The department's official release on the matter was issued by Public Information Officer Allen Etzler, who confirmed officers would stay on scene while gathering preliminary details, according to the City of Frederick. Beyond that, the city has said only that more information will be released as it becomes available.
The investigation is taking place near the Great Frederick Fairgrounds. The 164th Great Frederick Fair is running its nine-day run from September 18 through September 26, per the Great Frederick Fair.

Franklin Street is in Frederick's East End, near East Patrick Street. It is not a stretch typically associated with major police activity, which makes the investigation's proximity to the fairgrounds notable for neighbors and fairgoers alike.
