Front Porch Irish Pub is planned for 237 Main St. in downtown Pineville, with an opening target of late October, according to Charlotte Observer reporting that cited a social media post. The proposed menu includes Guinness and homemade Neapolitan-style pizza, along with other bites; pool tables and an outdoor patio are also planned. The exact opening date and full menu have not been detailed.
A different kind of area bar
The Pineville project is the second Irish pub venture for Gary Murray, who co-opened Matthews Social House with Adam “Jacko” Jackson in 2023. The Observer reported that the Matthews pub drew inspiration from a neighborhood bar in Murray’s hometown of Limerick, Ireland. How the Pineville location will differ from the Matthews business has not yet been specified.
A separate South Charlotte example offers a point of comparison, though not a direct parallel: the Observer reported in February 2023 that OpenTap was set to open as a family-friendly self-pour beer and wine bar. Its self-pour format differs from the Irish pub and food concept described for Pineville; one opening does not establish a broader local trend.
For the alcohol service, the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission says it issues retail permits for on-premises sales. That general information does not establish whether Front Porch Irish Pub has received a permit.
