Fulshear police are looking for Ginger Stapleton, a 79-year-old woman with dementia who was last seen at about 8 p.m. Thursday near the 5200 block of Field Creek Court, according to KPRC Click2Houston. She was wearing blue-and-white striped pajamas. Police believe she may have left the residence sometime overnight.
According to Click2Houston, Stapleton is described as a white woman standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 98 pounds. Her small stature and the fact that she left home in nightclothes have added urgency to the search, which is being led by the Fulshear Police Department.
Police Ask Neighbors to Check Their Own Property
Police are asking nearby residents to inspect areas on their property where someone could have taken shelter overnight, including garages and sheds.
Residents are also being asked to review doorbell and outdoor security-camera recordings from Thursday evening onward and report any potentially relevant sighting or other information to investigators.
How Texas Silver Alerts Work
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas created its Silver Alert program through legislation in 2007 to notify the public about missing older adults with a documented mental condition. The program is separate from the local search information described above; the available information does not indicate whether a Silver Alert has been issued for Stapleton.
DPS says a Texas Silver Alert request generally requires an eligible age or Alzheimer's diagnosis, a diagnosed impaired mental condition that poses a credible safety threat, an investigation ruling out alternative reasons for the disappearance, a request within 72 hours and enough information to help the public locate the person.
