Mountain Mike's Pizza opened its doors in Georgetown on Wednesday, bringing the California-based chain's mountain-sized pies to a 2,402-square-foot storefront inside Bluebonnet Plaza on West University Avenue. The new restaurant, located at 1314 W. University Ave., Ste. 101, is the 17th Mountain Mike's location in Texas and the third store opened locally by franchisee Rajeev Dewan.
According to Community Impact, the Georgetown shop offers classic and specialty pizzas, wings, salads and sandwiches, along with a weekday lunch buffet per a company news release. The location also features six big-screen televisions, a kids arcade and an outdoor patio, the same release states. Dewan already owns and operates Mountain Mike's locations in Manor and Cedar Park, making Georgetown his latest addition to a growing Central Texas footprint.
A $250,000 Buildout on West University Avenue
State licensing records show the Georgetown restaurant underwent a $250,000 tenant finish-out to convert the retail shell space, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which filed the project under number TABS2025025379. The build brings Mountain Mike's into a stretch of West University Avenue that is drawing a wave of new fast-casual concepts. Per the City of Georgetown, Bluebonnet Plaza sits about three blocks from the town square and is attracting neighbors including Shake Shack and Velvet Taco.
Georgetown's commercial growth has not gone unnoticed nationally. The city was ranked America's No. 1 newest boomtown in a June 2026 study, as reported by CultureMap Austin, driven by a 34% surge in housing units and labor force between 2019 and 2024. The same study noted Williamson County led the nation in economic output growth, a trend that has helped fuel interest from chains looking to expand into Central Texas.
Third Stop in a Five-Store Plan
Dewan signed a multi-unit development agreement with Mountain Mike's in September 2024 to bring five locations to the Greater Austin market, according to RestaurantNews.com, a deal announced alongside other multi-unit expansions in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. He opened his first Central Texas store in Manor in March, where opening-day demand ran high enough that management temporarily paused online ordering, per the Mountain Mike's Franchise Blog. Company executives there noted that former West Coast residents relocating to Central Texas have provided a built-in customer base for the brand.
Dewan followed that debut with a second location in Cedar Park in late May, converting a 2,616-square-foot storefront at Cedar Park Town Plaza following a $320,000 renovation, as Hoodline reported at the time. With Manor, Cedar Park and now Georgetown open, Dewan is actively developing at least two more Central Texas stores to fulfill his original five-unit agreement, according to RestaurantNews.com. He retains regional development rights across the Austin metro area, though exact sites for the remaining locations have not been disclosed.
A Texas Push Backed by National Growth
Founded in 1978 in Palo Alto, California, Mountain Mike's now operates more than 300 restaurants nationwide, having added 24 new locations in 2025 with plans for 25 more in 2026, according to Shopping Center Business. The chain opened its 300th unit in Las Vegas in late 2025. The Georgetown opening advances corporate leadership's goal of making Texas the chain's second-largest state market in its system, a target that reflects the brand's rapid growth pace since entering Texas in 2022.
The Georgetown location's debut also arrives alongside a broader menu update for the chain. Mountain Mike's introduced personal 10-inch build-your-own calzones nationwide on Tuesday, according to GlobeNewswire, marking the brand's first foray into folded handhelds. The chain's signature remains its 20-inch “Mountain-sized” pies, built with more than 200 crispy, curly pepperonis on daily-made dough.
