Texas imposes a mandatory 72-hour waiting period between issuance and the ceremony, with exceptions for a judicial order or military exemption, as well as for applicants who submit a Twogether in Texas certificate or are remarrying each other, according to Bexar County.

Popovich's Family Life
Popovich had been married to Erin Popovich for more than 40 years. They married while he was an assistant coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy between 1973 and 1979. She died at age 67 on April 18, 2018, following a prolonged illness, according to Newsweek.
Mary Barth Budenholzer and Mike Budenholzer divorced in 2016. TMZ's report also notes that Popovich and Mary Barth Budenholzer attended Spurs games together last season, and that Mike Budenholzer has since moved into a new relationship of his own.
Popovich's Post-Stroke Chapter
The wedding lands amid a significant career transition for Popovich. He officially stepped down as Spurs head coach on May 2, 2025, six months after suffering a mild stroke in November 2024, handing bench duties to longtime assistant Mitch Johnson while moving into a full-time front-office role. Popovich formally passed those responsibilities to Johnson during a May 2025 press conference alongside former stars Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, according to ClickOnDetroit. Budenholzer's Career After San Antonio

Popovich's résumé also extends beyond San Antonio's bench.
