Gunfire was reported outside a West Market Street nightclub in Greensboro early Sunday. The incident occurred outside Club O at 4618 W. Market St.
According to the Greensboro Police Department, a disturbance broke out in front of the establishment, which led to multiple shots being fired. Investigators say the shooting happened outside the venue itself.
CSI specialists and homicide unit detectives processed the scene.

On May 3, an overnight shooting at Club Orion sent a victim to the hospital by private vehicle following an aggravated assault, according to WFMY News 2. The venue operates as a neighborhood bar and nightclub.

Greensboro's Crime Trends
Homicides themselves have moved in the opposite direction. Greensboro recorded 19 homicides as of September 1, down from 29 during the same period in 2025, even as the shooting count climbed, WFMY News 2 reported. Police Chief Kamran Afzal cited an improved 83% homicide clearance rate alongside the rising shooting numbers during a council briefing. Afzal, who took over the department in May after succeeding former Chief John Thompson, has emphasized data-driven policing and specialized units, according to the City of Greensboro.
The numbers fit a longer arc. Greensboro logged 42 homicides in 2025, a 7% drop from 45 in 2024 and a steep decline from a record 74 homicides in 2023, according to The Triad Thread.
What Happens Next
Police say the investigation remains in its early stage. Detectives are still working to identify businesses along West Market Street that could hand over exterior surveillance footage, and the department has not yet confirmed the identity of the person who died. Greensboro police say they will release another update when more information becomes available.
