A gunshot victim was rushed to the hospital Monday night after a shooting erupted in the 7600 block of West Cheyenne Avenue near Buffalo Drive in northwest Las Vegas, and the shooter remains on the loose. Police described the scene as active as they worked to secure the area and asked the public to steer clear while the investigation unfolded.
According to KTNV, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the block and located an off-duty LVMPD corrections officer suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital and was in surgery, the station reports. Police said the suspect remained outstanding, with no arrest announced as of the initial report.
Police responded to the shooting at roughly 8:43 p.m. Monday, according to a Facebook post detailing the emergency response.
