Storms And Gusty Winds Build By Late Morning
Patchy dense fog may affect inland areas early before lifting by midmorning. Rain chances increase in the afternoon as temperatures rise to about 88 degrees, with northeast winds strengthening to around 20 mph and gusts up to 28 mph.
The chance of precipitation is about 50%, although most new rainfall is expected to stay below a tenth of an inch. Inland locations could run hotter, while coastal areas remain closer to the upper 80s.
High Rip Current Risk Continues At Local Beaches
A high rip current risk is in effect from late Tuesday morning through late Thursday night along Northeast Florida beaches, according to the National Weather Service Jacksonville. Rough surf and dangerous currents are expected, so swimmers should stay near lifeguards and avoid entering the water during thunderstorms.
Tonight brings a partly cloudy sky, a low near 76 degrees and another 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Northeast winds at area beaches are forecast to produce gusts around 35 mph from Tuesday through Thursday, continuing through Tuesday night.
Drier Midweek Before Storm Chances Rise
Wednesday should be mostly sunny with a high near 88 and only a slight chance of showers, but breezy northeast winds could gust to 30 mph. Thursday looks in the mid-80s along the coast to about 90 degrees inland, with a 30% to 40% chance of showers in coastal areas and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m.
Rain chances increase again Friday and become more persistent over the weekend, reaching roughly 60% Saturday and 70% Sunday. Monday remains warm near 88 degrees, with showers and thunderstorms likely as the unsettled pattern continues.
