The Craven County Community Health Center in Havelock is set for a 2,000-square-foot expansion that will add exam rooms, an in-house pharmacy and space for a VA Behavioral Health Clinic. County leaders plan to mark the project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this coming Monday.
According to WCTI, the ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sept. 21 at the health center, located at 508 U.S. 70 in Havelock. Craven County leaders are set to cut the ribbon on the newly expanded facility, which is designed to serve residents in both the Havelock and Harlowe areas.
What the Expansion Brings
Plans for the added space include more exam capacity, a pharmacy inside the health center and a dedicated area for the VA Behavioral Health Clinic, according to WCTI. The expansion is intended to serve residents in Havelock and the Harlowe area.
Existing VA mental-health services
The existing Havelock VA Clinic at 506 US Highway 70 West lists mental health care among its services, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; that clinic is distinct from the behavioral-health space planned in the health-center expansion. The VA also lists mental health care at its separate Morehead City Clinic, including care for addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD. The VA information cited here describes services and locations but does not specify eligibility rules.
Hunt has invited community members to attend the ribbon cutting and learn more about the health center's services, WCTI reports. The event will also give residents an opportunity to view the expanded space.
