A 65-year-old Hesperia man is behind bars on suspicion of attempted murder nearly ten months after a shooting left another man wounded near Green Tree Boulevard and Hesperia Road in Victorville. Brian Baker was arrested in that same area on September 8, booked without bail into the High Desert Detention Center, and is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court at 8 a.m. Friday.
According to VVNG, the case traces back to November 13, 2025, when Victorville Police Department detectives began investigating a shooting reported at approximately 11:06 p.m. near the same intersection. Deputies first learned of the incident when they responded to Victor Valley Hospital regarding an adult Hispanic man suffering from a gunshot wound, after the victim's family had transported him there for treatment. Authorities said Baker produced a firearm and shot the man in the mid-torso.
The hospital where deputies first encountered the victim now operates as Victor Valley Global Medical Center, a 101-bed acute care facility on Eleventh Street that was acquired out of bankruptcy in November 2010, according to the California Department of Justice. Investigators spent nearly ten months building the case before arresting Baker in the area of Green Tree Boulevard and Hesperia Road on September 8.
