A trucking worker was crushed and killed at a Hicksville truck dealership on Labor Day when a New York City garbage truck backed over him during what should have been a routine repair. Nassau County police and emergency crews responded to the scene around 2:50 p.m. Monday, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The worker had been working on the truck at Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service, located at 880 South Oyster Bay Road, according to Daily Voice. Citing News 12 Long Island, Daily Voice reported that the vehicle involved was a New York City garbage truck. Hicksville Fire Department dispatcher Chris Mercadante told reporters the truck backed over the worker, and the victim was declared dead at the scene.
