A hidden bar is tucking itself inside the back of Moxie, the long-awaited restaurant returning to Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, and it comes with its own doorway, its own bathrooms and its own menu built around a lineup of seven cocktails, seven entrees and seven desserts. The speakeasy, called The Seven, plans to serve seven cocktails, seven entrees and seven desserts once it opens alongside Moxie in mid-October.

According to cleveland.com, The Seven will operate as a separate space from Moxie despite sharing a building, occupying the former Bar Louie location at Legacy Village. The outlet reports the bar will have its own outside entrance, a detail that plays into the whole speakeasy concept the ownership group is chasing.

Moxie itself is returning to Lyndhurst after closing seven years ago, and its comeback is tied to restaurateur Brad Friedlander, the same account notes. The restaurant is also planning 28 private lockers where guests can buy and store their own bottles of spirits onsite, a perk aimed at regulars who want a stake in the place beyond a single visit.

Why The Seven Almost Wasn't Called The Seven

Co-owner Michael Dubois said the development group weighed several names before settling on The Seven, according to the same report. Dubois said he was initially wary that the name might carry a negative connotation, since The Seven is named after the seven deadly sins — but the concept apparently won out, and it now shapes nearly every part of the menu, from the seven cocktails down to the seven desserts.

Speakeasies as a concept trace back to Prohibition, when they emerged as hidden places where people could keep drinking despite the nationwide alcohol ban, per cleveland.com's report. The Seven is designed to lean into that history, giving Moxie what the outlet describes as a hidden destination for diners chasing cocktails, food and a bit of intrigue rather than just another bar attached to a restaurant.

A $7,000 Membership With $10,000 in Food Credit

For diners who want to go all in, there's the 7/10 Club, a membership program priced at $7,000 that includes $10,000 in food credits usable at The Seven or Moxie over the next two years. Members also get invitations to special events and wine tastings, along with other perks the report did not fully detail.

Beyond the numbers, The Seven's food and cocktail menus are still under development. The bar is expected to offer a selection of regular cocktails in addition to its themed seven-item lineup.

Legacy Village already positions itself as a spot with a range of dining options, from fine dining to family dinner to happy hour, according to Legacy Village's own site. The Seven and Moxie would add a very different kind of draw to that mix — one built on mystery and a members-only price tag rather than a casual bite.
