The Los Angeles Fire Department reported flooding at 1925 N. Wilcox Avenue in the Hollywood Hills Friday.
According to LAFD
, the incident at the Wilcox Avenue address involved flooding.
LAFD's alert identified Fire Station 27 in connection with the flooding.
Separately, a mudslide struck a home under construction elsewhere in the Hollywood Hills, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles. That report described five construction workers being evacuated as a precaution, along with some homes located above and below the mudslide. The station noted the collapse followed the latest in a series of Pacific Ocean storms that arrived in Southern California Thursday, prompting officials to place communities on alert for mudslides and flooding.
A Hillside With a History of Giving Way
The Hollywood Hills have experienced storm-related slope failures. During a February 2025 storm, heavy rain triggered an emergency flash flood warning for the Palisades Fire burn scar, and evacuation orders went out near several burn scars around Los Angeles, according to NBC News. That same storm sent roughly eight inches of mud sliding over Mulholland Drive, closing the roadway even though homes above the slide were later determined to be stable.
An earlier storm in February 2024 also brought mudslides to the Hollywood Hills. Mud flowed across the Hollywood Hills that week, damaging homes and forcing residents to flee.
Landslides Have Long Haunted the Neighborhood
A roughly 9,000-pound section of retaining wall fell onto Laurel Canyon Boulevard, prompting a road closure.
One home was red-tagged and two neighboring homes were yellow-tagged after the landslides, according to ABC7/KABC.
