The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office says the better odds for a passing shower or storm are in northern counties and along the sea-breeze boundary near the coast and southern parts of the region. Rain chances sit around 20%. Winds should be light and variable early, increasing and returning to the southeast Monday afternoon, so there will not be much breeze to break up the heat.
Tuesday And Wednesday Bring Triple-Digit Feels
Tuesday should remain hot, with inland temperatures in the mid to upper 90s through midweek. Wednesday should bring another chance for isolated afternoon storms. No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the Houston area in the current outlook, but the heat is still enough to make long outdoor plans uncomfortable and potentially risky.
A Small Humidity Break Arrives Thursday
The latest outlook follows Sunday's Hoodline forecast, which already warned that the heat would linger. The newer forecast keeps the hottest stretch in place through Wednesday, then points to somewhat lower humidity beginning Thursday.
Late-week highs should remain in the mid-90s, with some weekend readings reaching the upper 90s. Weekend rain chances should remain low-grade. The pattern is less oppressive late in the week, but it is not exactly sweater weather.
Early Outdoor Plans Are The Better Bet
Schedule strenuous errands and exercise early, drink water before you feel thirsty and take breaks in air conditioning or shade during the afternoon. If a storm forms, lightning can arrive before the rain looks heavy, so move indoors rather than waiting it out under a tree or covered patio.
