A 23-year-old Houston man is facing a murder charge in connection with the April 2025 shooting death of a homeowner who exchanged gunfire with masked intruders inside his own house on Ludington Drive. Guztavo Arizmendi was arrested on September 17, 2026, more than a year after 50-year-old Michel Badia Cremadichi was killed during what investigators have described as a violent home invasion.
According to the City of Houston Newsroom, Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 6351 Ludington Drive around 9:55 p.m. on April 28, 2025, and found Badia Cremadichi suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a doorway inside the residence. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said two masked suspects armed with weapons had entered the home and fled on foot, and that preliminary information suggested Badia Cremadichi may have known the suspects.
Local reporting from the time filled in operational details the initial police account left out. Investigators believed Badia Cremadichi had been followed home before two masked men kicked in his back door near Sandpiper Drive, according to Que Onda Magazine. The same reporting described Badia Cremadichi attempting to defend his home by exchanging gunfire with the intruders.
A Wife's 911 Call and a Dog on the Chase
The victim's wife, Veronica Badia, was upstairs during the break-in, according to the same Que Onda Magazine reporting. She reportedly saw one of the masked intruders, locked herself inside a bedroom, and called 911. Neighborhood surveillance footage captured the two masked suspects fleeing the scene on foot while being chased by the couple's German Shepherd, named Nala, who was reported missing following the shooting, the outlet's report states.
Michel Luis Badia Cremadichi was the 50-year-old victim. The Houston Police Department Homicide Division, with the case reported by Sergeants C. Lafour and W. Elsbury and Detectives J. Diaz and D. Arnold, carried the investigation forward under incident number 054968325, with an ECR/SOA date of April 30, 2025.
Task Force Makes the Arrest 17 Months Later
Arizmendi was arrested by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. He has been charged with murder.
Under Texas Penal Code Section 19.02, a murder charge is classified as a first-degree felony, per FindLaw. It remains unclear whether Arizmendi is accused of being one of the two shooters or an accomplice, and whether the second masked suspect seen fleeing on surveillance video has been identified or located.
