Houston police reported Friday that department chiefs and a public information officer were responding to a shooting at 11911 Chimney Rock Road. The department had not released how many people were affected or what led to the shooting.
HPD shared the update in a post on X, available through the department’s Houston Police account.
. The post was published at 7:06 AM on September 25, 2026, under the hashtag #HouNews, a tag the department regularly uses for breaking local news updates.
The department said additional information would be provided at the scene. As of the initial update, HPD had not released the number of people involved, their conditions, or information about a possible suspect or motive.
Media Staging Area Expected to Be Announced on X
HPD said it would announce a media staging area through its X account; the initial update did not identify a location.
Houston Police operates its official X account under the handle houstonpolice and has noted that the account is not monitored around the clock. Residents with information about a crime in progress are urged to call 911, while non-emergency matters can be directed to the department's line at 713-884-3131.
What broader Houston crime reports show
A separate shooting reported by Houston Public Media on September 22, 2026, killed a 15-year-old Westfield High School student outside the Spring ISD campus in Spring; a 14-year-old was taken into custody in connection with that case. It was a separate incident, not a report about Chimney Rock Road.
Houston Public Media reported that preliminary HPD data showed nearly 27,000 reported violent crimes citywide in 2024, more than 4% above 2023. Those citywide figures do not provide shooting-specific totals or establish anything about this incident.
This is a developing story out of Houston, and Hoodline will update this article as the Houston Police Department releases additional information from the scene at 11911 Chimney Rock Road.
