The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality encourages residents to carpool and maintain their vehicles. Hot, sunny conditions can contribute to higher ozone levels.
Weekend Heat Holds, Rain Builds Next Week
Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 92, while Sunday looks sunnier and slightly hotter, reaching about 93 degrees. Overnight lows will be 73 Friday night and 75 Saturday night, and rain chances will remain near zero through Sunday.
A few showers or thunderstorms could pop up after 1 p.m. Monday, when the rain chance reaches 20 percent. The odds rise to 40 percent Tuesday and 60 percent Wednesday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread and temperatures ease back to the upper 80s.
Thursday should remain unsettled, with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 86. Forecasters are watching for a possible midweek front, but its timing and rainfall totals remain uncertain.
