A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday across much of the Houston area, according to the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, use air conditioning when possible and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
Storm Chances Build After Noon
Monday will stay mostly sunny early, with southeast winds ranging from calm to around 10 mph. Rain chances rise after noon and peak during the afternoon, when scattered showers and thunderstorms could bring brief heavy downpours and roughly a quarter-inch to half-inch of rain in spots.
The best coverage is expected closer to the coast and southwest of the Brenham-to-Galveston line, but storms may push farther inland than expected. Any activity should taper into the evening, leaving a mostly clear night with a low near 79 degrees.
Hot Weather Hangs On Through Wednesday
Tuesday and Wednesday will look familiar: mostly sunny skies, highs near 93 degrees and only a slight chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Heat index values could reach about 103 Tuesday, while overnight lows remain near 79 to 80 degrees.
Thursday Storms Bring A Small Break
Thursday offers the best rain chance of the workweek, with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a slightly lower high near 90 degrees. Friday then turns sunny near 91, while Saturday and Sunday return to the low 90s with mostly sunny skies and only limited storm chances.
