An ice cream chain that got its start in India has two Dallas-area shops in Texas, one in Frisco and another in Coppell.
Dumont was founded in 1999 by brothers Vivek and Bhashkaar Inampudi, according to CultureMap Dallas. The brand made Texas its first U.S. target market, opening its debut American location in Frisco in 2023 before expanding to a second Dallas-area shop. Since then, the chain has added a second Dallas-area shop.
A Menu Built on Global Flavors
Ice cream is the centerpiece of the Dumont experience, with more than two dozen flavors spanning continents. The lineup includes an Italian-inspired sorbet, a New Zealand hokey pokey variety, and kheer, a coconut ice cream studded with dried fruits and nuts inspired by India's classic rice pudding, according to CultureMap Dallas.
The café side of the business rounds out the menu with coffee and espresso drinks, boba tea, and specialty beverages like falooda and iced kheer. At Dumont's existing Dallas-area locations, a single scoop runs $4, according to CultureMap Dallas. That outlet also reported that local franchisees and friends Sai Sashank and Tarang Tirumala brought the concept to Texas, opening the first Frisco location at 1951 FM 423 at the end of 2023 and a second shop in Coppell at 1535 S. Belt Line Rd. #160 the following October.
Expansion Plans Beyond North Texas
Dumont currently lists 23 locations across Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Vijayawada, as noted by CultureMap Dallas. The company began franchising in the U.S. in 2024 with an eye toward growth nationally and in select international markets, according to a franchise disclosure summary from FranchisePayback. That same filing pegs the initial investment for a Dumont franchise between $271,000 and $573,000, with training running 29 hours of classroom instruction plus 112 hours of on-the-job experience.
