A shooting at Shenanigans bar in Kenosha on Sunday left 33-year-old Antero Medina dead, according to police. Authorities said the suspect fled and was later wounded and taken into custody after an exchange of gunfire with officers nearby. The incidents are being investigated by multiple agencies.
According to WISN, the first shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Shenanigans near 52nd and 24th Avenue. Police said Medina was shot inside the bar and later died from his injuries. The suspect ran from the scene before officers located him.
Police said the suspect fired at responding officers near 53rd and 24th Avenue, a short distance from the bar. Two officers returned fire and struck him, according to police. A police squad car was also hit during the confrontation, though authorities did not report significant physical injuries to the officers involved.
Suspect Identified, Taken Into Custody
The suspect was identified as a 45-year-old Milwaukee man. He was taken into custody after being struck by officers and was reported stable, according to the outlet's report. Police said the officers involved did not sustain significant physical injuries.
How This Incident Differs From a 2020 Kenosha Case

In the current case, police said the suspect was wounded and stable, while officers did not sustain significant physical injuries, according to WISN.
The investigations have been divided between agencies. The Kenosha Police Department is investigating the shooting at the bar, while the Kenosha-Racine Area Investigative Team is handling the police shooting. The Racine County Sheriff's Office is leading that second investigation, according to the account.
