A familiar stretch of Richmond Road near Hamburg is about to get a new furniture showroom. Furniture Fair, a Kentucky-founded, family-owned retailer, is moving into the former Burke Furniture site and turning it into its first-ever Lexington location, with an 82,000-square-foot showroom set to anchor the corridor once construction wraps up.
The company, which describes itself as Kentucky-founded and family-owned, currently operates 13 locations spread across Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, according to WKYT. On its own showroom page, Furniture Fair lists the Lexington address as 125 S Mount Tabor Rd, noting the store is “temporarily closed while we remodel the former Burke Furniture space.”
Furniture Fair also describes the store's setting in more familiar terms for locals, saying, “Our Lexington store is located on Richmond Road near Hamburg,” per the same company page. That puts the incoming showroom right in one of the city's busiest retail corridors, at the former Burke Furniture site.
Ribbon Cutting Set for December
The grand celebration is already on the calendar. Furniture Fair plans to hold a ribbon cutting on December 10 marking the store's official opening in Lexington, WKYT reports. Craig Daniels, speaking for the company, said Furniture Fair is excited to officially become part of the Lexington community, according to the station's report.
Once the remodel is finished, the showroom's regular hours will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the company says on its showroom page. Furniture Fair has not specified a separate reopening date ahead of the December ribbon cutting.
A 60-Year Regional Footprint
Furniture Fair frames the Lexington expansion as part of a much longer regional history, saying it has supported communities across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana for more than 60 years, per its own showroom page. The company says it plans to build relationships with local families, businesses and community organizations as it settles into the Lexington market, the same report notes.
That long-term outlook extends beyond the opening-day festivities. Furniture Fair has said it intends to become part of the Lexington community for many years to come, according to the article. With the Richmond Road corridor already a shopping destination near Hamburg, the retailer is betting its first Lexington showroom will become a lasting fixture rather than a one-off expansion.
