Kwik Trip has bought the former Sendik's Fresh2GO property at 5101 S. 108th St. in Hales Corners, picking up a site that includes a Mobil gas station after Sendik's shut the store down. The deal gives the La Crosse-based chain another Milwaukee County site in its suburban footprint, this one in Hales Corners.
The sale involved a Sendik's Food Markets affiliate and Kwik Trip, and a company spokesman had not immediately provided details on what Kwik Trip plans to do with the site. Sendik's closed its Hales Corners store in March, and the outlet's reporting attributes the closure to underperforming sales.
The property had been listed for sale, according to a listing from Anderson Commercial Group. That listing describes a 17,690-square-foot retail building on a 2-acre lot with roughly 77 parking spaces and fuel pumps previously operated under the Mobil banner.
A Short Life for the Fresh2GO Format at This Address
Sendik's opened the Hales Corners Fresh2GO on July 7, 2017, as the last of five new Sendik's locations opened over an eight-month span, according to Urban Milwaukee's coverage at the time. That means the store lasted less than nine years before closing. Sendik's operated the Fresh2GO format, per reporting from CSP Daily News.
The Hales Corners store used Sendik's Fresh2GO format, but the available reporting does not establish whether other locations remain open.
Kwik Trip's Milwaukee County Push Keeps Rolling
With the Hales Corners purchase, Kwik Trip now operates stores in Milwaukee County, with its largest clusters in Franklin and Oak Creek and a single location in West Allis, per the Journal Sentinel's reporting. An existing store is in Franklin at 10750 W. Speedway Drive. Kwik Trip has been expanding in the Milwaukee area over roughly the past decade, with growth concentrated in outer suburbs.
The chain's scale nationally is considerable. Kwik Trip surpassed 900 stores across the Upper Midwest as of September 2025, according to a report from 106.9 KROC. The company also operates stores across Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Kwik Trip offers fresh bakery items, dairy and prepared foods, among other products. That differs from the smaller-format Fresh2GO concept Sendik's built at the same address. The store offered groceries, fresh products, gas and prepared-food departments.
No timeline has been announced for reopening the Hales Corners site under the Kwik Trip banner, and the company has not detailed what changes, if any, are planned for the existing building and fuel infrastructure.
