The City of Las Vegas is inviting residents to a free Día de los Muertos celebration on Oct. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m., turning the West Las Vegas Arts Center into a gathering space for music, art and remembrance as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Guests are being asked to bring photos of family, friends, pets or even admired singers who have passed, along with meaningful items to place on a community altar.
The city announced the event through a post from its official account, describing it as an evening meant to help residents celebrate tradition while honoring those they've lost. According to the City of Las Vegas
, the night will feature music from the Mariachi Conservatory of Las Vegas alongside art and community activities, and it's free and open to all ages. Tickets, also free, are being distributed through Eventbrite.

The celebration takes place at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, located at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., starting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 9.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is marked by celebrations such as the West Las Vegas event. The City of Vacaville calls it a traditional Mexican holiday that it honors each year, adding that everyone is welcome to attend and participate in the cultural event.
Bringing Photos and Personal Mementos
Organizers are specifically encouraging guests to bring photographs of deceased family members, friends, pets or admired singers, plus any meaningful items, to contribute to a community altar at the West Las Vegas event. That kind of shared ofrenda has become a common thread in Día de los Muertos gatherings elsewhere, including in Kirkland, Washington, where the city describes its own free, all-ages celebration as a way to remember loved ones through traditional activities, food and music.

The Oct. 9 gathering isn't the only Día de los Muertos programming the city has planned. In 2024, KTNV reported that the city planned Día de los Muertos events for Nov. 2.
