A longtime literacy and language intervention specialist at Robert L. Taylor Elementary School was arrested Wednesday in Las Vegas, booked on one count of child abuse or neglect and one count of battery. Julia Martinez-Ebner, 44, has worked for the Clark County School District since July 2020, and the school district's police department took her into custody as part of an investigation that began at the school this month.
Investigation Traced Back to Taylor Elementary
According to KSNV, Martinez-Ebner was arrested by the Clark County School District Police Department on Wednesday and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on the child abuse or neglect charge and the battery charge. The station reports the investigation that led to her arrest began at Robert L. Taylor Elementary School this September, where Martinez-Ebner was assigned as a literacy and language intervention specialist.
Martinez-Ebner has worked for the district since July 2020, or roughly six years, according to KSNV. The station also reported that she is set to be placed on unpaid leave under an agreement with her bargaining unit.

Separate local reports describe two other cases involving CCSD employees. KTNV reported that Dina Fanella was arrested on Sept. 1 in connection with an investigation at Rex Bell Elementary School and faced child abuse or neglect and battery charges. In a report dated Aug. 25, 2026, Fox5 reported that police linked a teacher’s battery arrest to an incident on Aug. 21 at Ruben P. Diaz Elementary School in east Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department informed CCSD police that a U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling prevents the dissemination of booking photos.
