Mark Andrew Barnett, 39, was sentenced Wednesday to 24 years in prison followed by 18 months of community custody, closing out a case tied to a gunpoint robbery inside a Kennewick home last year. He was the last of three men convicted in the case, and his sentence turned out to be the longest of the three.
Barnett was convicted on June 16 of one count of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of first-degree robbery with firearm allegations and enhancements, according to nbcrightnow.com. The outlet reports that three suspects total were arrested in connection with the robbery, and Barnett was the last to be sentenced.
A Targeted Home Invasion
Accounts of exactly when the robbery took place differ. AppleValleyNewsNow.com reports that on July 27, 2025, at about 7:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a man robbed at gunpoint in a home on Kennewick Avenue in what was described as a targeted incident. The Tri-City Herald, however, dates the robbery to July 29, 2025, and places it at a home in the 1200 block of West Kennewick Avenue, also describing it as targeted.
Per the Herald's account, the victim told police that men went inside the home, pulled out guns, and demanded his phone. The outlet also reports that the robbers allegedly transferred $2,000 from the victim's bank account to Cash App, with $1,000 sent to Barnett and $1,000 sent to a woman.
Arrests Followed a Weeks-Long Investigation
Barnett and Matthew Robert Miller, 34, were identified as suspects and arrested during search warrants carried out on August 6, 2025, the same outlet notes. During those searches, authorities found and seized multiple guns, gun accessories, replica guns, drugs, and other items relevant to the case, as detailed in a separate report from the same publication.
Kennewick police said their continued investigation identified a third suspect, Jon Harrison Rendall, on August 26, 2025. That report from the same account did not specify additional details about how Rendall was located.
Three Different Sentences
Rendall and Miller were also convicted of charges related to the robbery, and both were sentenced ahead of Barnett. Rendall received a sentence of 14.5 years in prison, while Miller received 10 years, per nbcrightnow.com's report on Barnett's sentencing. Barnett's 24-year term, plus the 18 months of community custody that follows it, makes his the longest sentence among the three men.
