A cupcake and ice cream shop known for blending the two into hybrid desserts has planted its flag in Falls Church. Lil' Cakes & Creamery opened its newest storefront at 120 Founders Avenue, inside the Founders Row development, marking the brand's eighth location overall.
The Falls Church shop sells the chain's signature mashups, including layered “Cake-N-Cream” ice cream cups and cupcake milkshakes that blend a whole cupcake into the drink, according to ARLnow. The menu also stretches beyond cupcakes and scoops into baklava, tres leches, cake jars, and dog-safe “pupcakes” for four-legged customers. As The MoCo Show reports, the shop also carries cookies, custom cakes, and puppy treats alongside a rotating lineup of cupcake and ice cream flavors.
Cupcake flavors at the new location include Dubai chocolate made with kataifi and pistachio paste, Reese's Peanut Butter with stuffed buttercream, and Orange Creamsicle, per the same ARLnow report. The MoCo Show notes the rotating menu has also featured banana pudding, cookies & cream, strawberry shortcake, red velvet, and carrot cake flavors.
A Prime Spot Inside Founders Row
The Falls Church storefront sits within Founders Row, with Paragon Theaters nearby and dining spots including Ellie Bird, Chasin' Tails, and NUE, according to the ARLnow report. The development has steadily filled out its retail lineup since opening in 2023, giving Lil' Cakes & Creamery a high-traffic perch in a commercial corridor built around dining and entertainment.
The Falls Church opening builds on the chain's earlier push into Northern Virginia. In September 2025, the company soft-opened a location at the Cascades Marketplace shopping center in Sterling, according to The Burn. Per The MoCo Show, the brand also operates a storefront in Alexandria, Virginia, giving it three Northern Virginia locations alongside five shops across Maryland in Gaithersburg, Rockville, Urbana, Arundel Preserve, and White Marsh.
From a Single Maryland Storefront to a Regional Chain
Lil' Cakes & Creamery got its start in October 2019 with a shop at Gaithersburg Square in Maryland, according to Eater DC. The brand has been operated by local entrepreneur Nadeem, who drew on experience running a Washington, D.C.-area construction business to scale the dessert concept into a multi-state franchise network, per the Hunger Relief Foundation.
Riding a Wave of Craft Dessert Demand
The Falls Church expansion lands amid strong growth across the dessert industry. The U.S. ice cream market was valued at $13.6 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $18.5 billion by 2034, driven by consumer appetite for artisanal and experiential frozen treats, according to the IMARC Group. The broader bakery sector generates more than $46 billion annually nationwide.
For Falls Church, the new shop adds another photo-friendly, pet-inclusive stop to a development already built around dining and entertainment. Whether Lil' Cakes & Creamery can keep its hybrid desserts consistent as it stretches across two states will likely shape how far the eight-location chain can grow next.
