A second driver was still being sought after a 20-year-old man was struck by two cars in Long Beach, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. The station reported that Ronaldo Perez was heading home from work when one driver hit him near Downey Avenue and Andy Street; after Perez fell to the pavement, another car struck him and its driver fled. ABC7 said police were searching for that driver.
ABC7 reported that Perez suffered severe injuries, underwent brain surgery and had bruises across his body. His brother, Francisco Perez, appealed for the driver to come forward, the station reported. The family also set up a fundraiser to help with medical expenses and recovery, according to ABC7.

The crash is one case, and the available city data does not establish whether this intersection has a documented history of severe collisions. Long Beach says its Safe Streets program uses data to guide infrastructure design, public education and enforcement, with a goal of preventing traffic deaths and severe injuries.
