A 21-year-old man is behind bars on two counts of first-degree rape after police say he assaulted a woman twice within a few hours in December, recording the attacks on his phone before she later found the footage herself and went to authorities.
Adahi Alberto Alvarez-Diaz is facing two counts of Rape - Incapable of Consent/Physically Helpless, according to a report from Yahoo News. Investigators say that on Dec. 9, 2025, Alvarez-Diaz had sexual intercourse with the victim while she was incapacitated, then assaulted her a second time within a few hours, recording himself both times and saving the videos to his phone.
The victim, who authorities say was known to Alvarez-Diaz, later discovered the recordings on her own and reported the assault to police, per the same report. Alvarez-Diaz was arrested in Tennessee, according to WKRC, and is now being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $100,000 bond.
University of Louisville Connection Remains Unclear
The case has drawn attention in part because of its proximity to the University of Louisville, though the exact link remains murky. It is unclear if the incident happened on UofL's campus or if it involves any UofL students, the outlet notes.
Alvarez-Diaz was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Sept. 25, according to the same account. No further detail on the outcome of that court date has been reported.
