A 51-year-old Louisville man is facing 10 felony charges, including kidnapping and first-degree rape of a victim under 12, after Louisville Metro Police say he sexually abused an 11-year-old girl he met through electronic communication and later blindfolded and drove to his home. Gary Gardner was arrested on September 25, 2026, and remains held on a $250,000 bond.
According to court documents cited by WLKY, officers with the Office of Sexual and Physical Investigations received a tip that Gardner was sexually exploiting the girl. Police say Gardner met the child through several electronic means of communication before picking her up, blindfolding her, and driving her to his home, where the documents allege he sexually abused and assaulted her and recorded the encounters.
The abuse reportedly happened several times, and Gardner reportedly asked for sexual material of other children and wanted another child to join them, per the same court documents referenced by the station's report. The Office of Sexual and Physical Investigations coordinates with Child Protective Services, according to Louisville Metro Police Department.

During Gardner's arraignment, criminal complaint details revealed that investigators allege Gardner used his cellphone to contact the girl, set up secret meetings, blindfold her, sexually abuse her, and record the encounters, according to a post shared in a Kentucky news and weather Facebook group. At that same hearing, a Jefferson District Court judge ordered that Gardner remain held on bond and imposed strict release conditions barring him from any contact with minors or access to social media, per a separate post in a Facebook community group.
Gardner faces charges including kidnapping a minor, first-degree rape of a victim under 12, first-degree sodomy of a victim under 12, procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means, promoting a minor under 16 in sex performance, using a minor under 16 in sex performance, distribution of obscene matter to minors, child grooming of a victim under 12, and possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor under 12, per the WLKY report.
