Luce Avenue Coffee Roasters opened a new location at 10555 Pearland Parkway, Ste. A102, on September 1, bringing its roasted-in-Houston coffee program and a menu of Liberty Taco breakfast tacos to a stretch of road that already sees heavy commuter traffic between Pearland and Houston. Owner Hyeong Ki Kim confirmed the opening, marking the coffee brand's latest push beyond its original city cafes and into the fast-growing Pearland suburb.
The new shop, as reported by Community Impact, serves coffee, lattes, tea, cold brew, and matcha alongside signature specialty drinks including the Spanish Latte, the pandan-infused Island Latte, and a caramel macchiato. Breakfast tacos come from Liberty Taco, the Houston fusion-taco concept founded in 2017 by restaurateur Will Huang, known for globally inspired flavors, according to the Houston Press. The cafe rounds out its menu with empanadas and pastries.
From an Upper Kirby Roastery to a Regional Brand
Luce Avenue Coffee Roasters got its start in late 2017 as a small specialty coffee shop and small-batch roastery in Houston's Upper Kirby neighborhood, opened by Helen Choi, per Houston Food Finder. The company has since built a reputation in competitive coffee circles, hosting official preliminary rounds of the U.S. Coffee Championships in 2022 and 2023, with co-owner Luke Jung ranking among the nation's top roasters at the 2023 event, according to Sprudge.
That roasting pedigree now spans a mix of formats. The brand runs standalone cafes in Houston neighborhoods including Garden Oaks, Washington Avenue, and Richmond Avenue, plus specialty coffee bars tucked inside select H-E-B grocery stores such as Bunker Hill and Meyerland, according to Luce's own site. The company also operates a franchise program offering operational training and roasting support to independent owners looking to open new locations, though it remains unclear whether the Pearland Parkway shop is a corporate-run outpost or part of that franchise system. The Pearland opening followed closely on the heels of another Houston cafe the brand launched on Westheimer Road in late July.
A Busy Corner in a Growing Suburb
The new cafe sits inside Parks at Boulder Creek, a 52,889-square-foot retail center at Beltway 8 that changed hands under new ownership in March, joining tenants such as Chipotle, Spec's, and Smallcakes. The intersection of Pearland Parkway and Beltway 8 sees more than 150,000 vehicles a day, functioning as a primary commuter artery between Pearland and Houston — a visibility edge that likely factored into the site selection.
Pearland's population has climbed to an estimated 130,677 residents in 2026, up from 125,828 counted in the 2020 U.S. Census, a growth curve that has drawn a steady stream of coffee concepts to the suburb. Michigan-based Haraz Coffee House opened on Broadway Street in January 2024, and Waygood Coffee expanded into Pearland in 2023, part of a broader wave of drive-thru buzz hitting Houston's edges. That leaves Luce Avenue's sit-down, roastery-driven approach to compete against faster-moving chains betting on Pearland's expanding customer base.
