A 35-year-old man is recovering after being stabbed inside a grocery store in Lenox Hill on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Police say the attack happened around 10:07 p.m. Tuesday and left the victim with a stab wound to the abdomen.
The man was initially listed in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable, according to PIX11. EMS transported him to a local hospital after the stabbing, which sources say stemmed from a dispute inside the store. Two people have been taken into custody as police continue investigating.
Details about what sparked the confrontation, the weapon involved, or whether the two people in custody face charges have not been released. The identity of the store where the stabbing occurred has also not been made public, and the investigation remains ongoing.
A Similar Attack Rattled The Same Neighborhood In March
Tuesday's stabbing is not the only violent incident to hit a Lenox Hill grocery store. On March 23, 2025, an 86-year-old woman was assaulted inside Morton Williams Supermarkets at 1066 3rd Ave. when an unknown man approached her around 1:25 p.m., according to amNY.
The suspect in that case pushed the woman from behind, causing her to fall, then fled on foot heading south on 3rd Avenue, the outlet reported. She suffered injuries to her left eye and back and broke multiple teeth in the fall. Paramedics took her to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition. Police described the suspect in that assault as a man with a dark complexion wearing a gray and burgundy jacket, a dark hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and gray shoes. Police were seeking the suspect when amNY published its report.
