Officers responded to the scene at about 2:45 a.m. and found the victim suffering from the wound before medics rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead roughly ninety minutes later.

In February 2023, a 34-year-old woman was fatally stabbed inside a Rite Aid pharmacy on the same 200 block during a domestic dispute, and responding officers arrested a suspect at the scene and recovered the weapon, the Inquirer reported at the time. The violence has not been confined to this single block. In June 2026, a 28-year-old woman was fatally stabbed on the 1300 block of West Lehigh Avenue during an altercation that was reportedly livestreamed on social media, according to Delaware Valley News. A 24-year-old suspect was later arrested and was expected to be charged with murder and weapons offenses in that case.
