A man is dead after a shooting outside an apartment complex in southwest Houston early Saturday, and police say the person who pulled the trigger fled the scene. Houston police were called to the 6345 block of Windswept Lane, near the Southwest Freeway, at about 1 a.m. to investigate what became a fatal shooting.
According to ABC13 Houston, two men were drinking outside the complex when another man approached and shot one of them. The wounded man was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, the outlet reported, citing authorities. The Houston Police Department is now investigating the shooting that left him dead.
Suspect Fled Before Officers Arrived
Per HPD, the shooter fled the scene. Officers had little to share beyond the basic sequence of events, with police telling the outlet they had no other information available at the time.
That leaves the identity of both the victim and the shooter unknown for now, along with any details about what sparked the confrontation between the two men who had been drinking together.
