A man was stabbed and died in northeast Houston on Tuesday, and a male suspect was detained at the scene as investigators opened a homicide probe. Police officers found the victim after responding to the 8800 block of Lockwood near Laura Koppe Road, and he was pronounced dead there.
What Police Have Confirmed So Far
According to ABC13, Houston police received a call about a shooting at around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday before officers arrived at the Lockwood location and found a man who had been stabbed. He died at the scene, and a male suspect was detained there as well, the station reports.
A Stretch of Road With a Violent Recent History
The intersection of Laura Koppe Road and Lockwood Drive has drawn intense scrutiny before. In September 2024, a drive-by shooting at a block party in the same area left three people dead and eight others injured, according to Houston Public Media. Police at the time said they responded around 2:30 a.m. to reports of shots fired at that intersection, and investigators said occupants of a white truck fired multiple rounds into the crowd before fleeing westbound on Laura Koppe toward U.S. 59.
That earlier case, in which at least nine people were hurt and two were killed at the scene before a third victim later died at a hospital, remained unsolved as of the outlet's report.
Tuesday's stabbing remains under investigation. The argument began on a METRO bus, continued after both men got off, and the suspect stabbed the victim during the argument.
