Mango Mango Dessert was scheduled to soft-open at noon on September 24, 2026, at 1617 Rockville Pike in Congressional Plaza, bringing the Hong Kong-style dessert chain back to Montgomery County for the first time in more than five years. The new shop takes over the former Custom Ink space right next to Häagen-Dazs, giving Rockville Pike shoppers another sweets stop within steps of each other.
The soft opening kicks off what the chain is treating as a full comeback for the area, according to mocoshow.com. Mango Mango previously ran a location at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg, operating there from October 2019 until it closed in April 2021. That earlier shop lasted roughly a year and a half before shutting down, per the same outlet's reporting.
A Month of Free Stuff to Mark the Return
Rockville regulars won't have to wait long for deals. Grand-opening promotions run from Friday through October 18, rolling out in weekly waves rather than all at once. The offers are in-store only and limited to available supplies, so late arrivals on any given week could find the freebies already gone.
The first wave runs Friday through Sunday, with buy-one-get-one-free deals on select items including the Fresh Passionfruit Green Tea with Pulp, the Coconut Mango Smoothie and the Green Tea Mille Crêpe Cake. From September 28 through October 4, anyone buying a gift card gets a bonus — $5 on a $25 card or $10 on a $50 card. The following week, October 5 through October 11, every purchase comes with a free scoop of Alphonso Mango Ice Cream. The promotions wrap up October 12 through October 18, when customers spending more than $25 will receive a free SpaceExplorer Cup while supplies last.
What's on the Menu
Mango Mango Dessert specializes in Hong Kong-style sweet soups and mango-forward desserts, alongside smoothies, ice cream, pastries and other sweets. The chain was founded in New York City's Chinatown in 2013 and has since expanded well beyond it. According to The Daily Pennsylvanian, the brand now runs more than 50 locations across 15 states.
The Rockville debut isn't an isolated expansion. Earlier this year, Mango Mango opened a University City location in Philadelphia, with its official opening in March.
For those looking to get in on the brand themselves, Mango Mango Dessert also offers franchise opportunities to prospective operators, according to the company's own site, mangomangodessert.com. For now, though, the focus in Montgomery County is simpler: a familiar dessert shop is back on Rockville Pike, and it's kicking things off with a month of giveaways.
