A woman died Wednesday afternoon after her SUV struck a guardrail near the intersection of South Harbor City Boulevard and NASA Boulevard in Melbourne, with police saying she may have suffered a medical episode behind the wheel. Officers who arrived at the scene had to break a window of the vehicle to reach her and begin emergency medical care before she was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
According to Space Coast Daily, Melbourne police responded to the crash at approximately 1:16 p.m. Wednesday and found the driver inside a 2025 Hyundai SUV. Investigators believe the woman may have suffered a medical episode that led to the crash. Officers broke a window to gain entry, extricate her, and perform lifesaving medical care before paramedics took over and transported her to a local hospital.
