Meow Wolf Houston is blowing out two years of candles with a party that skips the cake and goes straight for the fog machine. The Fifth Ward funhouse museum will host The Cosmic Howl, a 21-and-older Halloween celebration running from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Halloween night at its 2103 Lyons Avenue location, marking the venue's second anniversary.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the late-night bash will feature stilt walkers, go-go dancers, clowns, burlesque performers and a lineup of DJs including DJ Giadetroit, DJ Sean Cordill and DJ Furor, alongside a set from electronic music collective Native Frequency. Attendees are encouraged to dress up, with prizes awarded for the boldest, weirdest and most committed looks — decided by crowd vote. Tickets are on sale now for $65.49.
The party writer notes the venue's bar and restaurant, Cowboix Hevvven, will stay open throughout the event, giving guests a place to refuel between dance sets. A Second Birthday for Houston's Radio Tave
Meow Wolf Houston, known internally by its exhibit name Radio Tave, opened its doors two years ago as an immersive, multidimensional radio-station-themed installation inside a 32,000-square-foot space. The building at 2103 Lyons Avenue was originally a 1917 industrial plant owned by Moncrief-Lenoir Manufacturing Co., a sheet metal manufacturer that operated there until the 1990s. As Bisnow reported, the structure was saved from demolition when developer The Deal Company acquired it in 2020, setting the stage for its transformation into a cultural anchor for the neighborhood.
That transformation had municipal muscle behind it. The Houston City Council approved an economic development agreement with MW Houston, LLC in May 2022 to support construction and operation of the venue in District B, according to city records, positioning Meow Wolf as the flagship tenant of a planned 115,000-square-foot mixed-use commercial development. The ripple effects have continued to show up locally: Hoodline reported that vendor Gaspachos Mexican Bites opened a 2,500-square-foot storefront directly beside Meow Wolf in June, part of a surrounding complex slated to lease more than 120,000 square feet of additional retail and creative space.
More Halloween Programming Beyond the Late-Night Party
The Cosmic Howl isn't the only Halloween-season event on Radio Tave's calendar this October. An Adulti-Verse Halloween drag show is set for October 23, tarot card readings from Amber Ambrose are scheduled for October 30, and a daytime trick-or-treating event for kids is planned for October 24 — giving families and adults-only partygoers separate ways to mark the season at the same venue.
Radio Tave is built around the fictional story of community radio station ETNL broadcasting from the invented town of Little Thicket, Texas, and it leans heavily on Houston's own creative community to tell that story. Per Texas Highways, the installation includes contributions from more than 100 artists, over 50 of them based in Texas, including artist liaison Mario Enrique Figueroa Jr. (Gonzo247), Jasmine Zelaya, Kill Joy, El Franco Lee II and Trenton Doyle Hancock. Meow Wolf partnered with local organizations including Project Row Houses, Fresh Arts and the DeLUXE Theater to embed that local art history throughout the space.
The sound design carries the same hyper-local emphasis. Community Impact reported that the jukebox at Cowboix Hevvven carries 30 tracks from Houston musicians, while the venue's entry playlist features 50 local tracks — a sonic through-line that echoes the museum's radio-station premise long before guests ever reach the bar.
Growth, Restructuring and a Union Drive
Radio Tave is Meow Wolf's fifth permanent installation nationally and its second in Texas after Grapevine, joining locations in Santa Fe, Las Vegas and Denver, with projects underway in Los Angeles and New York, as Hoodline has previously reported. In April, the company brought on former video executive Matthew Henick to guide intellectual property licensing, digital extensions and upcoming physical builds.
That expansion has come alongside financial strain elsewhere in the company. Meow Wolf cut 165 positions in April 2024 and an additional 75 central non-exhibition roles in December 2024 as part of companywide restructuring, according to MySA. Around the same time, roughly 70 employees at Meow Wolf Houston announced in July 2025 their intent to unionize with Communications Workers of America Local 7055, seeking voluntary recognition as the company's fifth unionized venue, per the Communications Workers of America.
The venue has also experimented with layering theatrical programming on top of its permanent installation. In October 2025, Meow Wolf Houston introduced Phenomenomaly, a limited-time live-performance extension featuring actors, dancers, giant puppets and an interactive narrative centered on a fictional creature called the Flickerwerm, as CultureMap Houston reported at the time. The Cosmic Howl follows in that same spirit of using the holiday calendar to bring fresh performance elements into the space, two years after the museum first opened its doors in the Fifth Ward.
