Schedule and admission
The Progressive Metro Boat Show is scheduled for Sept. 17–20 at Lake St. Clair Metropark in Harrison Township, according to the Michigan Boating Industries Association. Information published by Lakeside Formula lists adult admission at $10 online or $15 at the gate. Children 12 and younger may enter free with an adult, while active military members and first responders are admitted without charge. Parking is $10, unless visitors have a Metroparks pass.
A park-based boat display
The event is taking place within a 770-acre Lake St. Clair Metropark site that includes a marina, nature center and 1,600-foot boardwalk, according to park information. The marina and portions of the park’s land are being used for the show, making the public recreation site part of the visitor experience.
How the park has evolved
According to Huron-Clinton Metroparks, the park’s development included dredging two million cubic yards of sand to raise the land level about three to four feet and creating a lakefront beach almost a mile long.
