Modest Mouse will play House of Blues Orlando on Friday night in support of its eighth studio record, An Eraser and a Maze. Released in June 2026 via Glacial Pace Recordings, the album is the Issaquah, Washington-formed band's first full-length effort since 2021's The Golden Casket and centers on loss, mortality and reinvention.
The Disney Springs show, set for 7 p.m. on September 18, was reported by Orlando Weekly, which listed tickets at $63. The concert follows the band's June 2025 appearance at the venue and an earlier three-night run at the Social in 2004. Brock, the band's sole remaining founding member, currently tours alongside Russell Higbee, Ben Massarella, Damon Cox and Keith Karman.
A Lineup Built on Loss
The band's recent history is marked by the death of drummer Jeremiah Green, who co-founded Modest Mouse in 1993 and remained a consistent member before dying of cancer at age 45 on December 31, 2022, according to The Guardian. Orlando Weekly described An Eraser and a Maze as an album concerned with mortality and existentialism. Its songs include Third Side of the Moon and Dogbed in Heaven/Give It a Skeleton, the latter largely written by Higbee and developed with Brock.
The current tour also follows the removal of guitarist Simon O'Connor from the band's live shows in July 2026. Brock has spoken about how touring schedules rarely leave enough time to actually explore the cities the band passes through, per Orlando Weekly's report. He has said that traveling by van allows musicians to notice the transitions between destinations in a way flying does not, and he tends to travel mostly in the dead of night while on tour, often bringing a bike along for the ride. Changing the set list from night to night, he has said, helps him maintain his sanity while on the road.
Brock has also weighed in on Orlando itself, criticizing the city's roadways for separating major points of interest with freeways and referring to Universal as Disneyland. Despite the gripe, he has expressed interest in visiting Universal's Hogwarts to drink butterbeer during downtime on this trip.
