Molteni&C has reopened its Los Angeles flagship at 147 N. Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood, and the two-story showroom no longer looks much like a furniture store at all. The space, which officially opened in June, was conceived with architect and creative director Vincent Van Duysen as something closer to an art collector's home than a retail floor.

According to Molteni&C, the flagship guides visitors through connected living, dining, kitchen, outdoor and bedroom environments that flow naturally from one to the next across both floors. The building itself measures over 7,600 square feet across two levels, as reported by Archello. Van Duysen has served as Molteni&C's creative director for a decade, per the seed reporting from Cultured Mag, and was the architect and designer for the renovation.

A Store Built to Feel Like Someone's House

Rather than treating each room as a separate showroom vignette, the flagship is conceived as a connected interior. The design includes kitchen, living, outdoor and nighttime areas, using gradually opening views, overlapping rooms, and alternating open and intimate spaces along the way. The living area connects with the Physis Kitchen.

The materials reinforce that lived-in feeling. Molteni&C describes a palette of light tones, travertine, and pale timber, combined with soft, deeply textured fabrics and wall panelling. The result uses textures with varied reflection and warmth, with furniture designed to integrate with the surrounding architecture rather than sit apart from it as discrete objects for sale.

Gio Ponti's Armchair Gets a New Role

Among the pieces on view is the Physis Kitchen, designed by Van Duysen, alongside historic design from the brand's archive. The flagship includes the D.151.4 armchair by Gio Ponti from the Molteni&C Heritage Collection, an archival piece displayed in a reading nook alongside the brand's Vicino side table. Elle Decor notes that Van Duysen's designs are not meant to be viewed as individual products but experienced holistically.

From Selling Furniture to Selling a Whole Home

The West Hollywood reopening reflects a larger shift underway at the Italian brand. Molteni&C is evolving from selling individual furniture pieces toward designing entire homes, and it now offers a turnkey service that delivers fully finished spaces to select clients. The Local Project frames it similarly, describing the company's move from selling individual pieces to designing entire homes as central to its identity today.

The Los Angeles flagship now operates as a directly run store under Molteni Los Angeles LLC, according to Interior Daily. It joins the brand's directly operated U.S. stores in New York, Miami and Washington, D.C., Elle Decor reports, and sits within a wider global network that Interior Daily says also includes London, Paris, Doha, Melbourne and Singapore. The Local Project notes that Molteni&C now runs roughly 130 mono-brand flagship stores across five continents.

What Comes Next for the Brand

Molteni&C has further flagship expansions planned for Sydney and Lyon by the end of 2026, per Interior Daily's reporting. Cultured Mag's coverage of the Los Angeles opening also notes that Van Duysen's design world has included work from other architects tied to the brand, among them Jean Nouvel and Christophe Delcourt, while Interior Daily's account of the broader presentation names Herzog & de Meuron and Foster + Partners alongside Van Duysen, Nouvel and Delcourt. For now, the Robertson Boulevard flagship stands as the clearest local expression of where the more than 80-year-old Italian furniture house says it's headed: fewer showrooms stacked with products, more houses built to be walked through.
