Deputies in Gates are trying to put a name to a face after a larceny at the GameStop on Howard Road earlier this month. The theft happened at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the store located at 1649 Howard Road, and investigators have released an image of the person they hope someone in the community can identify.

According to Newport Dispatch, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office released the photo as part of an active effort to identify a person connected to the larceny at the video game store in Gates. Anyone with information is being asked to reference case number CR #26-173202 when reaching out, and to email the contact address included in the outlet's report.

Larceny cases at retail chains have drawn attention elsewhere in Monroe County recently. In a separate incident in Henrietta, deputies responded to a larceny in progress at a Dick's Sporting Goods after two men allegedly made off with jackets valued at $3,780, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. One suspect, 51-year-old Leonard Henry, was arrested and charged with grand larceny, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, while a second person who fled the scene had not been found, as reported by 13WHAM.

How to Help Investigators

For now, the Gates case remains open, with deputies relying on the public to help close the identification gap. Investigators have repeated their request that anyone recognizing the individual in the released image come forward and cite the case number when providing tips.
