A restaurant planned for Port Orchard is preparing to take over 1386 SE Lund Ave., Suite 110. Before any diners can walk in, though, the business is awaiting permits and licenses.
According to WhatNow, MoonBeem's is awaiting permits and licenses for the planned restaurant.
A Blessing Before the Doors Open
Before serving a single plate, MoonBeem's held a private blessing ceremony inside the future restaurant, drawing on a Thai tradition observed before opening a new home or business, according to the same WhatNow report. Three monks from Wat Washington Buddhavanaram performed the rites. The ceremony included traditional tham bun, or merit-making, rituals: white cotton thread called sai sin connecting the monks to the venue, candle-wax holy water known as nam mon sprinkled throughout the space, and sangkhathan gift baskets offered to the monks.
The ceremony marked a milestone for the owners as MoonBeem's moves toward opening its first permanent Port Orchard location.
What the Approval Process Requires
According to Kitsap Public Health, prospective food businesses must complete a questionnaire and submit and pay plan-review fees before the department reviews their plans. The department says a food business can open only after its approvals are complete, its food permit is submitted and paid for, and a pre-opening inspection is scheduled.
From Food Truck to Storefront
